Mano Menezes asks for guarantees from Corinthians for the dismissal fine

Fired, Mano Menezes wants Corinthians to sign a document in which he undertakes to pay the sum stipulated in the contract

Expelled from Corinthians last Monday (5), Mano Menezes is still negotiating with the club to receive the fine he is entitled to, in excess of R$9 million. But there is still a dispute between the parties and the coach wants guarantees of receiving the sum.

It is not yet certain whether Corinthians intends to pay the fine all at once or in installments. But Mano wants the club to sign a document or agreement that legally supports the coach in the matter. The intention is to avoid problems like the one that happened between the club and midfielder Fausto Vera, with Argentinos Juniors, the player’s former club, calling up Timão to FIFA.

In any case, Corinthians must resolve the Mano Menezes situation soon. Coach António Oliveira, who already has an agreement with Timão, will only be able to register the contract after the former coach’s official termination. For Sunday’s match, against Portuguesa, the club only has until Friday to resolve the issue.

The Corinthians board will already have to pay R$1.1 million to hire António, from Cuiabá. The much higher fine for Mano could be subject to negotiation, which could delay the transition process. As the impasse continues, Thiago Kosloski serves as interim and continues to command the professional team.
