John Krasinski, who came to light thanks to his role as Jim Halpert in the TV series The Office, has since gone on to star in many films, comedy and action. He also distinguished himself as the director of the horror franchise No Sound, with the next spin-off coming soon.
But there is another role in the series that marked his career and which he had to say goodbye to last year, Jack Ryan in the series of the same name from Tom Clancy’s literary saga.
A sad farewell to Jack Ryan
After four seasons, the adventures of Jack Ryan, an up-and-coming CIA analyst in charge of dangerous missions in the field, have come to an end on Prime Video. And John Krasinski found it difficult to leave the character, as he explained AdoroCinema :
“I don’t think I’ll ever get to play a character like that again. He’s been my favorite character since I was a kid, both in movies and in books. I felt a little bitter about saying goodbye to this opportunity.”
In the fourth and final season of Jack Ryan, the character matured a lot, and he became the acting deputy director of the CIA, leading the investigation into corruption cases plaguing the agency. A development that John Krasinski greatly appreciated:
“It’s really fun to play a character who starts out with a certain sense of morality, and then questions it every day, to see how he deals with everything. I think it reflects the world around us.”
A movie with Ryan Reynolds coming soon
Even if the actor, screenwriter and filmmaker is sad to leave this iconic character, he does not have time to mourn him for long, because he returns in a few months with a new production, in which he especially directs his friend Ryan Reynolds.
In theaters May 15, Blue & Company is a family adventure comedy about a little girl, Bea, who one day discovers that she can see everyone’s imaginary friends. Then begins a magical adventure to reconnect each child with their forgotten imaginary friend.
Season 4 of Jack Ryan is available on Prime Video.
