Trailer: After The Crown, Netflix Unveils Movie About Scandal That Rocked England’s Royal Family

This is a film that risks upsetting the British royal family once again. Netflix has released the first images of the scoop, which takes a look at Prince Andrew’s famous interview on the BBC’s Newsnight show, which led to his downfall over his involvement in the Epstein affair.

In the trailer, we find Gillian Anderson – a far cry from her role as a sex education psychologist – channeling Emily Maitlis, a well-known journalist, opposite Prince Andrew.

The stakes are high for Elizabeth II’s favorite son, who is being interviewed to tell the whole truth about the Jeffrey Epstein affair.

Background: On December 30, 2014, lawyers filed a complaint in a Florida court that Prince Andrew was one of several public figures involved in sexual activity with a minor, later identified as Virginia Giuffre, who was allegedly sex-trafficked by Epstein.

A royal scandal

In November 2019, the broadcast of a program on the BBC aimed at improving the public image of the prince will have the opposite effect among British opinion. This led to the huge humiliation of Prince Andrew, who confirmed his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein and denied any sexual relationship with Virginia Giuffre.

The latter also testified on British television a month earlier and called on the audience to support him in seeking justice.

The film goes behind the scenes of this moment that shook the British monarchy. So much so that in May 2020 it was announced that Prince Andrew was stepping down from public duties indefinitely.
