Giovanni Padovani killed his ex with a hammer and bat




The former player Giovanni Padovani he was sentenced to life in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend Alessandra Matteuzi with blows of hammer and mallet. The case took place in August 2022, in Bologna, Italy. At the time the Italian player was 27 years old and played for Sancataldese, the country’s fourth football division.

Padovani was tried for the crime of qualified homicide. According to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sportthe Court held that Padovani had premeditated the murder and had committed it for a trivial reason.

In his statement, the former player said he was disturbed at the time and that this should be taken into consideration.

“I’m not that man anymore, I didn’t think about it. But if you think it’s right to kill a beautiful and intelligent woman like Alessandra, then I deserve a life sentence. If you recognize a disorder in what I did and I still do it, consider everything without let myself be influenced by public opinion,” he said.
