On April 16, 2025, the long-awaited biopic about the King of Pop will hit theaters. According to director Antoine Fuqua, Sober Titled Michael will retrace the superstar’s journey without avoiding his dark side. The film is expected to chronicle the artist’s rise from his beginnings with the Jackson Five to his death at the age of 50.

A striking resemblance

Filming is currently underway and Jafar Jackson, Michael’s nephew, is playing the role of the uncle. A new photo has been released where the actor is singing on stage. The resemblance to Michael Jackson is striking.

Jafar Jackson, 27, is a singer and songwriter and the son of Jermaine Jackson, who was also a member of the Jackson 5. Jafar has been singing and dancing since the age of 12 and became famous for covering songs by Sam Cooke and Marvin. Gay before releasing his own titles.

Lionsgate studio, which released the photo on social networks, specifies that the photo was taken by Kevin Mazur. The latter is a famous photographer who notably directed Michael Jackson’s final rehearsals before his death in June 2009.

Written by John Logan, who has notably worked with Martin Scorsese (The Aviator, Hugo Cabret) and Sam Mendes (Skyfall, 007 Spectre), the film will be produced by Graham King, who is responsible for the successful Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

Dealing with gray areas

That’s why accusations of pedophilia plagued the singer’s last years, until his death in 2009 at the age of 50, due to cardiac arrest caused by a cocktail of tranquilizers. Last August, invited to the set of the show “Good Morning America”, the director Antoine Fuqua promised that his film will be about “the good, the bad and the ugly”.

“To me, no artist has the power, the charisma and the pure musical genius of Michael Jackson. He was a great artist. He was human. We’re going to show the good and the bad. We’re going to tell a story. Michael based on the facts and me and Graham King, the producer of Bohemian Rhapsody, we I’ll tell you the facts we know, and it’s up to the audience to decide what they think of Michael, but we’ll describe the facts as we know them.he assured her.

Michael will hit theaters on April 16, 2025.
