Michael J. Fox thrills with surprise appearance and receives ovation at BAFTA 2024

The awards ceremony took place last Sunday, February 18th, and featured the actor, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease.

Best known for the role of Marty McFly in the trilogy Back to the future, Michael J. Fox appeared by surprise on stage at the 77th edition of BAFTA Film Awardsthe “British Oscar”, which took place last Sunday (18), moved those present and received a standing ovation.

The actor, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s at the age of 29 in 1991, was chosen to announce the winner of the award’s highest honor, Best Film, which went to Oppenheimerin Christopher Nolan.

In his speech, Fox – who was also competing for the award with the documentary STILL: I’m still Michael J. Foxbut lost to 20 Days in Mariupol – declared that films have the ability to bring people together, “It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from”.

“There’s a reason people say movies are magical, because movies can change your day. They can change your outlook. Sometimes they can change your life.”added the actor.
