The German is on the ropes in the Bavarian club
Pressure mounted on Thomas Tuchel following Bayern Munich’s 3-2 defeat to Bochum on Sunday (19), which left the Bavarians eight points behind the league leaders. Bayer Leverkusen.
The Bavarians’ favorite to take over the club in the event of Tuchel’s dismissal is Xabi Alonso, coach of rival Leverkusen. However, the Bavarian board of directors does not rule out investing in Zinédine Zidane, former Real Madrid coach.
The coach, 51, has been unemployed since leaving the Merengues in May 2021. The Frenchman won: three Champions Leagues and two La Ligas, during his time at the Spanish club. It was also thought that Zidane could take charge of the French national team for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but he denied the role.
Another coach who could join Bayern Munich on an interim basis is Ole Gunnar Solskjær. The Norwegian manager has been out of work since being sacked by Manchester United in November 2021. He spent almost three years in charge of the Red Devils, guiding United to second place in the Premier League in 2020/21 and losing the Premier League final League. Bayern Munich’s sporting director, Cristoph Freund, knows Solskjær well and has followed the commander’s path for years. However, there have been no concrete discussions on this eventuality.
