Six episodes, a mysterious plot, a golden cast and a great director: what is full circle on CANAL+?

We have to wait a few dozen minutes, if not the entire first episode, for the full-circle plot to really form in our minds. For his new series, director Steven Soderbergh – who continues his experiments on the small screen – offers a twisted plot, as he likes several characters and two worlds that, at first glance, do not have much in common.

A complex and fascinating scenario

The story begins in Guyana, South America, when a mother (CCH Pounder) at the head of a mafia family loses one of her sons. Convinced that his clan will be targeted by a curse, he must attack another family, wealthy and located in Manhattan, to “break the cycle”. He then recruits two Guyanese youths to finance a kidnapping that goes wrong.

Full circle – six episodes – the filmmaker once again trusts screenwriter Ed Solomon – the author of the TV series Mosaic and the film No Sudden Move, both by Soderbergh. The show is played by a five-star cast: Claire Danes (Homeland), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), CCH Pounder (The Shield), Dennis Quaid (The Day After Tomorrow) and Zazie Beetz (The Joker).

All of them serve a fascinating scenario, inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s film Between Heaven and Hell, and depicted with many twists and turns. “At first you think it’s a series about oppressed rich white people, and then as it goes on, things start to go wrong.– says Steven Soderbergh in an interview Collider. In the end, you will find yourself in an environment that is no longer the same as it was at the beginning.”

Full Circle airs on CANAL+ from February 22.
