On the afternoon of this Thursday (22nd) the president of São Paulo, Julio Casares, was a guest of the Casão Pod Tudo. The podcast is presented by former player Walter Casagrande Júnior, who previously played for São Paulo in 1984.

In the chat, the president of San Paolo spoke, among other topics, about the possible renovation of the Morumbis stadium. It’s not a given that the athletics track will be removed, he explains; just like what happened at the Monumental de Núñez stadium in Argentina.

-Don’t change the characteristics, I like a new stadium, but we will renovate it (…) It’s not even a question of removing the track, but of bringing the seats closer to the track. It might be too close, but it depends on the architectural design. Because a stream flows beneath the field. You see, for me, to improve this vision and bring the public to greater pressure, the stadium can go from 65 thousand to 85 thousand. I want to bring the fans closer.

Another topic discussed was the problem of artificial grass in stadiums. Casares defended the idea that the CBF, and other bodies, should ban artificial turf in Brazil.

-The time has come for the clubs, the CBF, the Federation, the Conmebol… There must be natural grass. He arrives. This is not a show, as everyone has a different type of grass. I know it’s business. In Italy, in England you don’t have it… We have to think about the athlete first. Three of our players were injured at Allianz: Galoppo, Ferraresi and Wellington, not counting Dudu and Bruno Rodrigues (both from Palmeiras)

San Paolo’s next match is Sunday (25th), against Guarani, in Campinas. The Tricolore is outside the classification zone of group D of the Campeonato Paulista. The team is in third place with 14 points, behind São Bernardo and Novorizontino, both with 15 points. Remembering that the Tricolor has one game less.
