The Thai drama “Battle of the Single Ladies” mixes comedy, romance and a bit of dystopia to create a more modern take on a reality dating show. This is because, while the number of men has drastically decreased due to the pandemic, women, now leading the nation, must take care of the boys so that they grow up and marry girls to continue the population. Below, check out more information about the series, such as the cast, trailer, and synopsis.

Day (Kemisara Paladesh) is a seemingly normal girl: she has a house, a job and friends. What makes her different from traditional girls, though, is that she lives in a city where there are only women everywhere you look. This is because in the past a pandemic affected only men, decimating the nation’s male population; and as if that wasn’t enough, new births, even through artificial insemination, only generated more females, compromising the reproduction of men.
With this in mind, the government created A Fazenda: a technological and militarized installation where the remaining men (and those few who were “lucky” to be born there) must remain to be looked after, having become a sort of national treasure. ‘. They cannot leave this place and no one else must enter. And if a woman outside the Farm becomes pregnant with a son, the child is torn from her arms and placed in the care of the government.
But, to alleviate this disturbing climate, the completely mediatized society has launched a reality show called “Batalha das Solteiras”, in which girls have to be drawn and fight together for the chance to marry one of the boys in this competition. Day was enrolled against her will by her sick sister, but she agrees to continue the program because, if she wins, she will live on the farm and the government will assume the financial costs of maintaining her sister’s health.
Little did she imagine, however, that one of the bachelors she would compete against is a former Farm runaway she knew as a child and that this boy will change her life forever.
The drama is available on Netflix, has a total of six episodes and each lasts an hour on average. The cast includes names like Blue Pongtiwat, Man Trisanu Soranun, Nichapalak Thongkham, Natthaweeranuch Thongmee, Panadda Wongphudee and more.
