Angry with the referee, Felipe Melo leaves the press conference in Ecuador

Outraged by Andrés Rojas’ performance, Felipe Melo was also angry that journalists had not asked about the arbitration

Fluminense was not at all satisfied with the performance of Colombian referee Andrés Rojas after Thursday’s defeat (22) against LDU, in Recopa. The failure to award a penalty for the Tricolore, even in the first half, generated revolt and indignation, but none of these expressions were as clear as that of Felipe Melo. The player even left the press conference, complaining that he had not been asked about the referee’s performance.

In reality, the press conference was about to end, but Felipe Melo didn’t miss the opportunity to speak. When Diniz answered the last question, the number 30 turned to the journalists and appeared deeply irritated. He believes the team was badly damaged, but he seemed more bothered by the lack of questions about the referees’ performance.

“Calm down, no one will ask questions about the referee? No one will question what happened during the match? Will it stay like this? No one will say anything? It gets complicated, right? We are professionals, this is my life, I’m a family man. Six hours of travel to get here and no one says anything?” he asked, before getting up and leaving the conference room.

Fernando Diniz also talked about arbitration, although the question asked does not necessarily mention this topic. He too was visibly upset and said the game was “tainted”. Recopa’s return is scheduled for next Thursday, at the Maracanã.
