President Tricolor is one of the biggest critics of synthetic turf in Brazilian football
Júlio Casares, president of São Paulo, once again criticized synthetic pitches in Brazilian football and called for unity between the clubs and the CBF to standardize natural grass in all stadiums.
Casares recalled that both Sao Paulo and Palmeiras players have already suffered serious injuries in matches played at Allianz Parque and reiterated that the athletes must be a priority.
– The time has come for the clubs, the CBF, the Federation, the Conmebol… There must be natural grass. He arrives. This is not a show, as everyone has a different type of grass. I know it’s business. In Italy, in England you don’t have it… We have to think about the athlete first. Three of our players were injured at Allianz: Galoppo, Ferraresi and Wellington, not to mention Dudu and Bruno Rodrigues (of Palmeiras) – the president said on the podcast “Casão Pod Tudo”.
Recently, Sao Paulo signed a five-year contract with Live Nation to provide Morumbi for the company’s events. Even with the agreement, Casares believes it is the partner’s obligation to adapt to stadium conditions
– Even if I want Morumbis as a platform for show, I have to make my lawn the best, as it is. I have to have the technique for this, the partner has to adapt. We must have a facade in favor of football – he assured
San Paolo returns to the field on Sunday (25th), against Guarani, for the Paulistão.
