Murphy received acclaim for playing Robert Oppenheimer in the biopic directed by Christopher Nolan.
This Saturday (24th), viewers around the world were able to see the SAG Awards 2024. In it, the Actors Guild of the United States chose the artists who distinguished themselves most in film and television last season, through a ceremony held in Los Angeles.
Among the various categories of the evening, that of Best Actor in a Film, one of the most popular, saw fierce competition to elect it Cilian Murphy the big winner. Names like Bradley Cooper, Paolo Giamatti, Colman Domingo AND Jeffrey Wright still competed with the Irish star, but Murphy confirmed his favoritism after starring in the acclaimed film Oppenheimer.
In the feature film he brought to life the American physicist Julius Robert Oppenheimer, considered the “father of the atomic bomb”. Murphy delivered a performance that was widely praised by critics, presenting a side of the character torn between his duty to his country and guilt over the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
