Edgar Moura Brasil, widower of Gilberto Braga, who passed away in 2021, went to court against Globo to try to gather information on the fees and rights that the author could still have on the works he produced for the broadcaster. Gilberto is the author of works such as “Paraíso Tropical”, “A Escrava Isaura”, “Dancin’ Days” and others.
According to newspaper information Folha de Sao Pauloreleased this Monday 26th in the action taking place before the 34th Civil Court of the TJ-RJ (Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro, Edgar declares himself responsible and one of the partners of GT Produções Artística Ltda, created by Braga, for signing contracts with Globo, but Globo received no response.
Through her lawyers she asked that the broadcaster be forced in court to present the agreements signed with her husband. According to GT, the objective is to obtain information to preserve Gilberto’s “patrimonial and moral rights”.
Edgar’s defense believes that Globo may lack transparency regarding the agreements entered into. They also demand payment of the last installment of the writer’s contract with the broadcaster, which would not have been paid, valued at around R$290,000.
