Director told how Fernando Meirelles’ film was one of the starting points for the film that pays homage to Bob Marley
Reinaldo Marcus Greendirector of Bob Marley: One Loverevealed that God’s city was a central inspiration for the creation of the film that pays homage to the Jamaican singer.
The revelation came in an interview with Splashin which Green talked about how he used the Brazilian film Fernando Meirelles as a reference from the first meeting with Ziggy Marleyson of Bob:
“God’s city was one of the films I was talking about with Ziggy since our first meeting: ‘Man, what if it was a version of God’s city? That would be really cool.'”
Starring Kingsley Ben-Adir, Bob Marley: One Love follows the life of the reggae star, the creation of his music and the message he included throughout his work.

According to Green, God’s city it would be a film “rich in people, history and politics”. “I felt like I was a really important part of a movie like this.”

The biopic celebrates the life and music of the icon, who would turn 79 years old in 2024, if he were alive.
