RBR retains director after trial by independent investigators

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner has been acquitted of “inappropriate behaviour”. The energy drinks company announced the decision this Wednesday (28), on the eve of the start of the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship season, with the Bahrain GP.

In a statement from Red Bull GmbH, the Austria-based company said the complaint “was ignored” following a “fair, rigorous and impartial” investigation.

– The independent investigation into the allegations made against Mr. Horner is thorough and Red Bull can confirm that the complaint has been rejected. The complainant has the right to appeal. The investigation report is confidential and contains the private information of the parties and third parties who cooperated in the investigation, so we will not comment out of respect for all those involved. Red Bull will continue to strive to meet the highest standards in the workplace – the statement reads.

Understand the case

The case broke out in early February after Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf revealed that Horner was under investigation. The leader denied the accusations.

Ten days later, a new article from the Dutch newspaper highlighted that the inappropriate behavior was sexual in nature: Horner had been sending suggestive messages to an employee over a “considerable period of time.”

The investigation process lasted weeks and was conducted by investigators independent of the brand.
