“Run, the police are coming!”: with Liam Neeson the reboot debuts in 2025

Run, the police are coming!, the landmark crime comedy series starring Leslie Nielsen, is getting a remake. The new film will star Liam Neeson and will be released in US cinemas in July 2025.

The reboot has been in development since 2022 by Paramount+. The film will be directed and produced by Avika Schaffer (Tico and Teco: defenders of the law) who co-wrote the draft screenplay with Dan Gregor and Doug Man. MacFarlane and Erica Huggins are producing through their company Fuzzy Door.

There are no further details on the new plot yet. What is known is that the story will follow Neeson as Frank Drebin’s (Leslie Nielsen) son. In other words, the idea is that the production is part of the same universe as the previous films. The information comes from Omelette.

The remake will be released at a time when several classic productions from the 80s and 90s are being “re-released”. By the end of the year, for example, the launch of the fourth part of Beverly Hills copwith Eddie Murphy.
