We are at the beginning of Fight Club, the legendary psychological thriller directed by David Fincher in 1999, in which the anonymous, lonely and frustrated hero meets Tyler Durden, a mysterious anarchist who is radically opposed to the consumer society, who offers him to create an underground fight club. .

Like many feature films, Fincher’s film hides some small, well-hidden details that only the most observant or well-informed viewer can decipher. In addition to some rather (very) scaly underworld imagery in several locations, Fight Club also hides a rather incredible (albeit very discreet) clue about its final reveal, as recently revealed. A hint at the end of the movie

To find out, press the pause button on your remote control exactly 28 minutes and 28 seconds into the movie.

In this scene, the main character, played by Edward Norton, has just learned that his apartment has been completely destroyed by a gas leak. She then goes to the pay phone and decides to call Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), who she met a few hours earlier on the plane.

The latter does not answer and the protagonist therefore hangs up on the receiver. But as she prepares to leave the cabin, the phone rings: it’s Tyler.

“Incoming calls are prohibited.”

However, this is completely impossible! Indeed, as you will be able to see if you look carefully at the information written on the left side of the phone, exactly in the time code we mentioned, this booth does not transmit outside calls.

This small detail, no doubt overlooked by many viewers, already foreshadows the film’s final twist, in which we learn that Tyler Durden never existed and is merely an imaginary alter ego of Edward Norton’s character.

As for the scene we are interested in today, the main character didn’t get the call and so his conversation with Tyler took place in his head.
