Netflix’s Top 5: This French Series Just Beat Avatar!

Netflix’s Top 5: This French Series Just Beat Avatar!

Number 1: Furies

Seeking revenge after the death of her father, a young woman finds herself in the network of Fury, a vigilante of organized crime in Paris.

Viewer rating: 3.4/5

According to Lucy Mason (5/5):

Finally a good French action series! The fight scenes are great (we can see that there is a budget in real life, the camera does not swing in all directions and the choreographies are crazy), we have fun and immerse ourselves in the slightly crazy world, but the charm of reinvented Paris. The casting is great and we are never bored! It moves a thousand miles an hour and has a well-crafted story that always keeps us wanting to see what happens next.

According to Nathan Grantest (4/5):

It’s not a masterpiece, it’s a very good series. Original plot, impeccable image, attractive characters, well-chosen twists, funny dialogues, it is very addictive. We’re really bored on Nerflix right now, so let’s not shy away from the fun. It is a very successful series. There is a little Jean-Pierre Jeunet side:)”

According to MTGR (0.5/5):

This series is one of unprecedented poverty and intellectual laziness. Or rather, we are returning to Besson’s performances of the 2000s. No surprises, no problems, phone script, over-explanatory voiceover, vulgar humor, hollow characters (caricatures of mobsters), incredible situations arise. to continue With very practical ellipses to overcome all the shortcomings of the script. But we have to admit one feature of this series: it is so bad that it quickly becomes ridiculous (anything can happen, because there is no sense and no writing skills). So, in the end, it almost leads to addiction….

why does it work

Netflix continues its frenzy of action with Furies , an eight-episode series starring the amazing Marina Foys in an often inappropriate role. On the program: chases, stunts and a conspiracy that no longer counts its twists. The perfect cocktail for success made Looks like Netflix and magic are taking over.

Number 2: Avatar: The Last Airbender

The nations of water, earth, fire, and air once lived in harmony, and the Avatar, master of the four elements, guaranteed peace among them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and destroyed the Air Nomads in their first maneuver to conquer the world.

As the current incarnation of the Avatar slowly emerges, the world loses hope. However, hope is born again like a light in the night when Aang, a young air nomad – and the last representative of his people – emerges from the slumber to claim his rightful place as the new Avatar.

Along with his new friends Sokka and Katara, siblings who are members of the South Pole Water Tribe, Aang embarks on a quest that combines fantasy and action. He must save the world and fend off a terrifying attack by Fire Lord Ozai, a mission made all the more difficult because Crown Prince Zuko is determined to capture him and his friends. But they will be able to rely on the help of many allies and colorful characters that they met during their adventures.

According to Shyzeur (4/5)

A very good adaptation of the cartoon that takes us back to our childhood, in any case for generation Z! The CGI special effects are generally well done, with good acting by the main cast. Fun moment, looking forward to the sequel.

by Serialkiffeur (5/5)

A very successful adaptation. The opening scene is worthy of a Korean movie! The characters are appealing and the FX are on par.

According to Mr. Movie (3/5)

The Avatar the Last Airbender series is great, but I find it less good than the cartoon because the characters were entertaining and engaging. It loses all its charm in the series, but Aang, Sokka, and Katara are good, but not one-sided, unlike in the cartoon. The visuals, sets, costumes, and make-up are flawless, but Netflix could have done better.

why does it work

Banking on a franchise as iconic as Avatar: The Last Airbender, we suspected that Netflix would reach out to both anime fans and anyone who’s heard of it but never dared to try it out. However, we are surprised that the series is so quickly leaving the top spot in favor of Furies, which has just been released. It will be interesting to see how he maintains his streak in the coming weeks and if he can regain the top spot.

Number 3: Blood and water

As Puleng and Fix try to move forward, their past catches up and tears them apart as they find themselves in danger once again this year.

Viewer Rating:

According to Nicholas B. (4.5/5):

It’s a very good series! It’s true that it’s a bit elite style, but it’s successful! A bit of a cliffhanger at the end, but twists we don’t necessarily expect, a well-crafted script.”

According to Judy (2.5/5):

Blood & Water, a series that could have been interesting, but which unfortunately never gives itself a chance, leads us from start to finish. Often unnecessary scenes such as a heavy focus on sex, some unnecessary plot or character development, many typical teen drama issues.”

why does it work

If you weren’t familiar with Blood & Water, the South African series is attracting a real audience that continues to grow, as evidenced by the release of its 4th season. It is the second original production in the country after Queen Sono. This story, inspired by the news that shook South Africa a few years ago, has the courage to mix more genres, between drama, thriller and soap.

Number 4: Interviews

A veteran, annoyed by the drug users and rowdies who have invaded his neighborhood, decides to get his rebellious grandson back on track.

Viewer rating: 3.6/5

According to Thierry Pirlo (4.5/5)

It’s not the best series in the world, but it’s still great. I find the writing of the characters, especially Ezekiel, to be very good and even better in season 3.

According to Wiwi (4/5)

A very good Spanish series of action and suspense, the characters are attractive and funny. I can’t wait for season 4.

According to Equicine (5/5)

A real treat (…) fabulous performances by all actors; See without hesitation

why does it work

EntrevĂas is still doing very well this week, proving the French public’s appetite for Spanish productions focused on drama and action. The characters’ narrative arcs contribute to this success, with their evolution becoming a real source of fan interest.

Number 5: One day

Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew met on their college graduation day, July 15, 1988. They will grow up, become close and apart, experience joy and sorrow together.

Based on the novel “One Day” by David Nichols, published in 2008.

Viewer rating: 4.2/5

According to Angel (5/5):

“A heartwarming story. Slow start but still catchy. We identify with each character. From episode 7 onwards, I just cried non-stop. My heart broke every second. I’m proud to recommend it if you like drama and love stories.”

According to Morvandie (4/5):

“Having not read the book, this success is primarily due to the two actors who play their roles perfectly. A real reflection on the meaning of life, missed or missed meetings, our choices and their consequences. There is a lot of poetry. And emotion in this series, which is never overdone, on the contrary It’s sober and honest. It certainly looks like the original version.”

According to Samueljan (4/5):

“An intense series that realistically portrays the ups and downs of human relationships over the years. The performances of both actors are captivating and the touching story leaves a lasting impression on the audience as it explores the complexities of friendship and long-lasting love. Ambika is very good in the role, I think it’s perfect.”

why does it work

A month after its release, One Day is still in the top 5 viewed on Netflix! This romantic serial has managed to make the platform’s subscribers cry throughout its fourteen episodes, brilliantly scripted and beautifully directed by Ambika Mod and Leo Woodall. The latter play Emma and Dexter, two friends who we follow over the course of twenty years or so as their relationship spirals ever further into a passionate and complicated love story.
