Avatar on Netflix: Two very good news for The Last Airbender series!

This is called a quick update. Two weeks after the release of Avatar the Last Airbender on Netflix, the American giant has just renewed the series for not one, but two additional seasons. News that’s half-surprising when you look at the operating numbers achieved by the live-action adaptation. After a great start, surpassing One Piece, the series continues to be a hit worldwide.

This update to Avatar with two additional seasons will allow teams to film both back-to-back, thus avoiding the two-year wait between each release. If the ability to jump in time was considered to compensate for the fact that the actors have grown up, by shooting all the episodes at the same time they still have everything.

Three seasons and then he’s gone?

The cartoon runs for three seasons and the Netflix series seems to be heading in the same direction. We’ll see Aang (Gordon Cormier) learn to control water and earth in the second (as the logos above suggest), and then fire in the third. This will allow him to fight a fearsome nation led by General Ozai (Daniel De Kime), who intends to use Sozin’s comet to increase his powers.

It remains to be seen if Netflix will allocate the same budget for these new episodes (15 million each) and the same time for post-production, two elements that allowed the teams to refine the visual effects until the last minute. Criticized by some fans, the quality of the writing and the quality of the characters will have to increase if Netflix hopes to convince some subscribers to once again immerse themselves in the world of Avatar, the Last Master of the Universe.
