The public network is expanded and includes 177 television stations and 155 radio stations


Agreement signed with 11 Brazilian universities; the channels will be integrated into the National Public Communication Network

Another 15 television channels and 20 radio channels will be integrated into the National Public Communication Network (RNCP), foreseen by the Law for the Creation of the Brazilian Communication Society (EBC). Made up of television and radio stations from across the country, the network signed 6 agreements with 11 state and municipal universities on Wednesday at an event in Planalto. There will be, in total, 177 television stations and 155 radio stations.




According to EBC CEO Jean Lima, ensuring access to information and strengthening public communication are the main benefits of the agreements. The main goal, according to him, is to reach the population with regional content and, with this, fight fake news and strengthen democracy.”

The executive secretary of the Secretariat for Social Communication of the Presidency of the Republic (Secom), Ricardo Zamora, stated that the expansion of the network is the most important project of the organization, which aims to “democratize communication and encourage quality local production”.

The agreements were signed with the universities listed below:

  • State University of Rio Grande do Norte (UERN);
  • Foundation of the Piauí State University (Fuespi);
  • Mineiros University Center (Unifimes);
  • University of Rio Verde (UniRV);
  • Norte Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro State University (UENF);
  • University of the State of Mato Grosso (Unemat);
  • Central-Western State University (Unicentro);
  • State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS);
  • Vale do Acaraú State University (UVA);
  • State University of Western Paraná (Unioeste);
  • State University of Campinas (Unicamp).

The president of the Brazilian Association of Rectors of State and Municipal Universities (Abruem), Odilon Máximo, said that content produced locally by institutions could be “retransmitted to all states of Brazil”, thus receiving greater visibility.
