President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said Thursday that the government will sooner or later discuss with Congress changing the country’s “spending limit” to promote greater benefits to the population.
“When we have more money, we will have to discuss this spending limit with the House and Senate, and we will see how to use more money to do more good for the people,” Lula said in a speech during the New PAC Seleções investment announcement event at the Palácio do Planalto.
Lula also said federal revenues were increasing “more than we expected.” In the month of January, collections presented the best result ever recorded for all the months of the Federal Revenue historical series, which began in 1995.
