The vehicles collided head-on on Thursday night (7)
A serious road accident on Thursday night (7) killed a 29-year-old young man on RS-122, in Ipê, Serra Gaúcha. A head-on collision between his Fiat Strada truck, with Minas Gerais license plate, and a Mercedes Bens truck from São José (SC) caused his death on the spot. According to the Road Command of the Military Brigade (CRBM), the driver of the truck was not injured and was subjected to a breathalyzer test, which tested negative for the presence of alcohol.
The accident occurred around 9.55pm at km 136 of the motorway, in a mountain stretch between Ipê and Campestre da Serra. According to the CRBM, the analysis of the traces on the road indicates that the truck was traveling in the direction of Ipê-Vacaria while the car was traveling in the opposite direction.
The victim’s body was removed by the team of the General Institute of Expertise (PGI) of Caxias do Sul. The vehicles have already been removed from the road and there are no more traffic jams on the highway. The victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed by police.
