According to an investigation by the Civil Police, the crime was motivated by a disagreement between the victim, who was part of the gang, and other members of the same criminal faction. The victim had been reported missing by his family since the beginning of January.
The victim reportedly filmed the drug deal at the home of one of the suspects, threatening him to hand over the recording to the police. Subsequently, the killers decided to ambush the man in a nightclub he frequented.
The young man was kidnapped and taken to the cemetery, where he was shot three times at close range and his body was hidden inside an old tomb. Without knowing where the young man was, his family filed a complaint with the police.
On 01/09, the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) of São Joaquim received news that this missing young man had been murdered and his body thrown in the cemetery.
With this information, the police went to the cemetery and after searching the place, they discovered that the missing young man had been murdered and his body hidden in a grave in the cemetery.
Called Operation “Campo Santo,” police are treating the case as a five-count homicide.
The first phase of the “Campo Santo” was launched on February 6, when the São Joaquim Police Station executed eight search and seizure warrants and arrested three suspects involved in the crime. The second action, which targeted the last fugitive target, took place between last Wednesday and Thursday.
