However, this version will not be a strict adaptation of the original work: it will take inspiration from it and retain its imaginative world as well as its deeper message to create a new story with new characters. Both the manga’s director and author expressed their delight at the way the series is going:
“I’m so glad this is news. Even though I am the author of the original manga, I will also be able to be part of the audience and experience the excitement and wonder. When I thought about when the original manga was adapted in Japan, Parasite, the manga is like a child to me, born from my work in a small room, and the animated film and live-action films were like grandchildren. My son, who goes out into the world and meets many people and their wisdom, experience and technology. I am happy that another grandchild was born in Korea. I believe this new story will take us to a different place in a world beyond my imagination“, he said Hitoshi Iwaaki.
Director Yeon Sang-ho added: “When I was in my twenties, Parasite was a must-have for those who were into manga and anime. The opportunity to build on this foundation and create something new is not only a great honor, but also a childhood dream come true.“
