Thermometers are expected to be above average in the South, Southeast and Midwest areas
According to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) in a technical note, temperatures will remain above average this week too.
From this Monday 11th to Friday 15th the forecast indicates heat in the areas of South, Southeast and Midwest. In these areas the temperature can reach 40°C.
“Inmet warns that the week will initially be hot, however not all the heat qualifies as a heat wave, since to do so it is necessary to respect some technical criteria,” the institute explained in a post on Instagram.
The agency considers it a heat wave when temperatures remain 5°C above average for 5 consecutive days. In this case temperatures will have to remain between 3°C and 5°C above average for the entire period.
Since March is the transition period between late summer and early autumn, changes in weather patterns tend to occur very quickly, and significant changes can occur between runs of numerical weather prediction models in the forecasts.
