What is it about?
The misfortune of the brilliant and tormented Imogen Scott, who, because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time (well, a little bit of her fault), is the prime suspect in a murder case, the victim is killed in a lockup. room. Setting: A luxury Mediterranean liner.
Suspects: All the extremely wealthy passengers whose every wish is (or almost) granted, and the crew who go out of their way to satisfy them. The problem: To prove her innocence, Imogen must team up with the man she hates, Rufus Cottesworth, the world’s greatest detective.
who is he with
In Murders and Other Complications, it is the young actress Violet Beane who plays the heroine Imogen. We’ve especially seen him play speedsters in recent seasons of the Flash series. She completely transforms in this new role: she amazes us with blonde hair and a very elegant style. She almost overshadows TV veteran Mandy Patinkin, who also narrates. A duo that works really well on screen!
is it worth watching
It’s part of a partnership with Hulu that Disney+ can exclusively offer Murders and Other Complications in France. This detective series available in 10 episodes is a whodunit A classic yet effective that takes place behind the closed doors of luxury: a liner that welcomes, for the duration of the crossing, a wealthy family and their potential future clients. When one of the investors dies, the heroine leads the investigation along with the great detective she hates.
It’s Mandy Patinkin, former criminal mastermind and Homeland, who steps into this costume. The series’ two showrunners, fans of Agatha Christie, portray her as a A mix of Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot and Sam Spade. He is a smart and meticulous detective who is not on this boat by chance. He’s there to close an investigation he’s been running for several years, which also involves a character played by the brilliant Violet Beane.
If you like investigative series and mysteries, murder and complications are for you. Its aesthetic is reminiscent of the Knives Out film franchise and its colorful character Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig). Rufus Cottesworth is just as phlegmatic.
With its chromatic range that ranges from yellow to gold, as if to showcase the richness of the various characters, and its elegant baroque aesthetic (we love the look of the characters!), the series has an aesthetic unlike any other. It adds a little extra charm to Patinkin’s voice. It’s also impossible not to think of Hulu’s other production from the platform, Only Murders in the Building, a genre gem.
The only criticism we can give to the series is its storyline, which is a bit too long: if we find out from episode 2 who the real antagonists are, the interest gradually increases throughout the season…
All episodes of the series are now available on Disney+.
