Anatomy of the Fall: First Oscar for a Justin Trietti film!

After winning 6 Césars in France, Justine Triet’s acclaimed French film Anatomy is Oscar time for the fall. The feature film just won the first golden statue of the night: the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay!

The screenwriter and director wrote the script together with Arthur Harari and appeared together on stage in front of all of Hollywood to receive a valuable award for their screenplay, which has already been celebrated at the Golden Globes, BAFTA, Lumières and César.

And the first Oscar for Anatomy of the Fall!

Starring Sandra Hüller, Milo Machado-Graner, Antoine Reynaerts and Swan Arlod, among others, Anatomy of the Fall is one of the most successful French films of 2023 and just won a major Oscar for its screenplay.

With an instrumental version of 50 Cent’s “PIMP” (which already features in the film), Justin Triet and Arthur Harari thanked Academy voters with a lighthearted and fun speech, which the first-time director began:

“This Oscar will help me get through my mid-life crisis, I think. Anyway, it’s been a crazy, extraordinary year. It’s very glamorous tonight, and the glamor of tonight is the opposite of the beginning of this movie. You know, we were at home, locked up with our two children. It was incarceration, it was during the coronavirus . So we put our children in front of the TV, in front of the cartoons. There was no separation between writing and. layers.”

Arthur Harari concluded the story of writing the film:

“And there were two other people who intervened with Marie-Ange and David, a woman and a man. And actually, that’s when things got a little crazy. And it was really this ping-pong that happened, especially between the French. But There was nothing between us and nothing above us. There was complete independence and freedom, and that was the only way for us to make this movie. So it’s cool.”

Justin Triet also thanked the actors of the film:

“Let me thank the whole cast Sandra, Swan, Milo, Antoine, the whole cast, the whole cast. Thank you for what you did. You really killed this script once behind the camera or in front of the camera and I think. It’s the best for the writers, as well as the directors. It It’s an honor. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.”

To remind you, Anatomy of the Fall tells us about the dissection of a couple through a family drama. Sandra, Samuel and their visually impaired 11-year-old son, Daniel, have been living in the mountains for a year, far from everything. One day Samuel was found dead at the foot of their house. The investigation into the suspicious death was started. Sandra will soon be charged, despite the suspicion: suicide or murder? A year later, Daniel attends his mother’s trial, the couple’s actual autopsy.
