With its continental dimensions, Brazil is home to a rich and diverse culture that often eludes even Brazilians themselves, depending on their region of origin. This diversity makes the country highly recognizable internationally, although this perception is often limited by reductionist stereotypes.
Related to this outsider perspective, foreign cinema, particularly North American cinema, has played a significant role in shaping this vision.

As the Brazilian title itself reports, “Operação Rio” had parts recorded in various locations of the wonderful city (Morro do Pão de Açúcar, Forte de Copacabana, Praia de Ipanema, Favela Santa Marta and Cristo Redentore).

The adventure takes agent 007 to several locations, including Rio de Janeiro. Most of the scenes in Brazil were actually filmed in Rio (Pão de Açúcar, Tom Jobim Airport, Aterro do Flamengo, Praia do Grumari). Filming also took place in Foz do Iguaçu and in the city of Mariana, Minas Gerais.


Despite being a foreign body, the film “The Incredible Hulk” is recognized as an integral part of the MCU, despite Edward Norton playing Bruce Banner instead of Mark Ruffalo.

British production, “The Emerald Forest” is a drama and adventure film directed by John Boorman (“Bitter Nightmare”, “Excalibur”). The plot revolves around an American engineer who is in Brazil with his family to work on the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in the Amazon rainforest.
To take revenge for the devastation of the green areas caused by the works, an indigenous tribe kidnaps the engineer’s son, who begins to be raised by them. After 10 years, the father continues to look for his son in the Amazon.

Filmed primarily in Rio de Janeiro, “Feitiço do Rio” is an American romantic comedy directed by Stanley Donen, the same author of the classic musical “Cantando na Chuva”.

A horror film featuring a giant killer animal, “Anaconda” follows a group of documentary filmmakers who plan to film an Amazon tribe.
However, their guide (Jon Voight) is involved in a dangerous hunt for a legendary giant anaconda. The cast includes Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Eric Stoltz, Jonathan Hyde and Owen Wilson.
The scenes in the Amazon rainforest were filmed in Manaus, in the state of Amazonas.


The famed Werner Herzog directed and wrote this German epic that follows an aspiring rubber baron determined to transport a steamship to an inaccessible location deep in the Amazon.
To do this, he brings the ship ashore, up a steep hill, with the help of the natives.
Starring Klaus Kinski, the film was shot in several locations in Manaus, Amazonas.

The fourth film in the Twilight saga has scenes shot in Brazil. In the plot, the honeymoon of the human Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and the vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) takes place in Brazil and the scenes take place in the state of Rio de Janeiro (Marina da Glória, Lapa and Paraty).
