Negotiations between Apple and Google could lead to the integration of Gemini AI technology in future iOS updates

According to information released by Bloomberg, Apple is in talks to form a partnership and integrate Gemini, Google’s artificial intelligence (AI) model, into future iPhone features.

The collaboration would aim to incorporate artificial intelligence into the iOS system, with updates expected later this year. The move comes as Apple faces pressure to keep up with the progress of competitors such as OpenAI, Microsoft, Anthropic and Google itself.

In February, Apple’s CEO, Tim Cookannounced that the company will roll out features powered by general purpose AI “later this year.”

Apple can already use its own templates for some features on devices in the upcoming iOS 18 software update, but it is speculated that collaboration with external vendors will be essential for more complex cases, such as image creation and writing assistance.

Google, on the other hand, already has a partnership with Samsung to bring Gemini-based AI features to the Galaxy S24 series, as well as incorporating them into its own Pixel series of phones.

However, the owner of the largest search engine on the Internet had to suspend the image generation functionality on Gemini after the model was created images with historical inaccuracies.
