Winnie the Pooh Horror will have its own shared universe

Poohniverse will be the horror multiverse where children’s characters such as Snow White, Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, among others, will star in slasher films.

After the release of the macabre film Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey in 2022, the creators of the work decided to expand the horror multiverse and create the Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, a saga in which other childish characters thirsty for blood, death and revenge will also appear. The release of the crossover is scheduled for 2025 and will bring, in addition to Pooh, Piglet and Tigger, other names from children’s imagination, such as Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, Bambi, Mad Hatter and even Sleeping Beauty. Plot details have not yet been revealed, but if the new film will follow in the footsteps of Blood and honey there will be many scenes blood with lots of blood splatters on the screen.

It’s also worth mentioning that the project marks a partnership between studios Jagged Edge Productions and ITN Studios, and was only possible because these characters fell into the public domain and could be explored in other works. The idea of the creators is to follow in the footsteps of wonder in which the figures of these children can relate in some way.

So that the Poohniverse Whatever happens, though, the characters will appear in independent films. The studies announced it Bambi: The Showdown, Peter Pan’s Neverland AND Pinocchio without strings, all without titles in Portuguese so far. What is known, however, is that the stories will be connected and will culminate in the 2025 crossover.

Another multiverse feature that will be released is Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2which will hit theaters in 2024. “We have access to all these concepts, so it’s like an independent bubble and we can do whatever we want with them. So, yeah, it’s really exciting,” celebrates Rhys Jake-Waterfield, director of both films.

The Repercussions of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey

Despite so much excitement, it’s worth remembering Blood and honey It was neither a critical nor commercial success, earning only 3% approval from experts and 50% from average audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The general opinion is that the film has a weak screenplay that doesn’t handle the (few) good scary moments.

The film was so poorly received that it won the award Golden Raspberry 2024award which “celebrates” the worst films released the previous year and also received the statuette in the category of Worst Couple in a Scene, Worst Derivative, Sequel or Remake, Worst Screenplay and Worst Director for Rhys Frake-Waterfield.

It remains to be seen whether the director and creators will be able to change this reality with new features, or whether the franchise will establish itself as one of the worst of recent times, based solely on bizarreness. Even if new features aren’t previewed, the public can watch (or review) them Blood and honey on PrimeVideo.
