Palmeiras continues preparing for the duel against Novorizontino next Thursday (28th) in the semi-final of the Campeonato Paulista. The match will mark Verdão’s return to Allianz Parque. The team spent some time away from the stadium and played their matches at Arena Barueri. But according to Marcos Rocha it was not the same.
“Happy to return to our home, anxiety was already attacking us. Barueri welcomed us very well, we managed to play some good games, but it’s not our home. I’m sure that the fans will return in large numbers and that the pitch will be suitable. It will be a full match and a great celebration”, said Marcos Rocha.
Allianz Parque had been closed since the end of January due to problems with the lawn at the end of last year. Real Arenas, responsible for maintaining the stadium, replaced the pitch using cork imported from Europe. Before the inspection by the São Paulo Federation, Palmeiras carried out tests with the grassroots teams, who approved the new floor.
It is important to highlight that the synthetic grass remains the same, as it is still in perfect conditions of use. The only change was the replacement of the old thermoplastic compound with cork, due to melting caused by the heat and pollution of São Paulo, which, all in all, resulted in a sticky substance on the players’ shoes.

Furthermore, the full-back commented on his adaptation to a request from the Palmeiras coach. Full-back with offensive characteristics, he is forming a three-man line next to the two defenders.
“At the beginning it was a bit difficult to get this acceptance. I have always been a full-back who liked to support and help in the offensive part. Then I adapted, asking for advice and information when there were three defenders arriving as a surprise in attack,” the team concluded.
