Last March, on March 20, Disney+ premiered “X-Men ’97,” an animated series that continues the story of the iconic mutants that fans saw on television in the 90s.

What is ‘X-Men ’97’?
As mentioned, the animated series is a continuation of the last episode of ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’.
In the final episode of the original cartoon, Chales Xavier has to say goodbye to the mutants after being shot, and in his will he stipulates that Magneto will retain control of his entire empire.

The series, which arrived on Disney+ on March 20, will have 10 episodes in its first season (no details yet on a possible second). The first two chapters were released simultaneously on the streaming platform, but the next ones will come one per week. This is the calendar:

How many X-Men cartoons are there?
There have been several Marvel mutant animated series over the years, each with their own focus and fan base.
- “X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men”: from 1989, it was just a pilot episode for an animated series that never aired.
- “X-Men: The Animated Series” (1992-1997): Without a doubt, one of the most iconic and remembered by fans. It’s what sets the foundation for Marvel’s latest mutant animated series.
- ‘X-Men: Evolution’ (2003): Over four seasons, reimagines Marvel’s team of mutants as high school students, with all the problems that brings.
- ‘Wolverine and the X-Men’ (2009): Set in a dark future and with a much more mature tone, the series features Wolverine as the leader of the team on multiple adventures.
