Plus belle la vie: Will Patrick save Luna? Jerome Bertin answers

After several weeks of investigation, the intrigue surrounding Maxime and Cecilia is coming to an end. The episode of Plus belle la vie, even plus belle this Thursday, March 21 ends with Luna (Anne Décis) in great danger. After shooting Maxime, Cecilia is really on the verge of attacking the man in his fifties. But Patrick Nebutt, who witnessed the scene from his window. Will he be able to save her in time?

In connection with the Series Mania festival, AlloCiné met Jerome Bertin, Patrick’s translator, to ask him a few questions about the outcome of this twist-rich story, but also about what awaits the character in the coming weeks.

AlloCiné: You’ve been playing the character of Patrick Nebut for over ten years now. What convinced you to reprise the role for the Plus belle la vie sequel? What do you like so much about this character?

Jerome Bertin : I love Patrick Nebut because he is a man who has dedicated his life to two things. The first is his family. We should not forget, but this comes with the help of the state. He saw his mother killed, his father abandoned him, and in the end, his family is his absolute support. The second is that it serves the people. He is an honest, fair cop who really wants to stop the bad guys and protect the widow and the orphan.

Patrick has a central role in the investigation of Cecilia and Maxime. Was this scenario fun to play in Rear Window? Weren’t you disappointed that you weren’t in the heart of the action for once?

Put your finger on the right word: disappointment. That was an interesting game. Throughout the story, Patrick is frustrated that he can’t do his job as well as he likes. He is a witness to a murder, he is absolutely sure of it, but only he believes.

It reminded me of the plot in The Enchanter where only Patrick thought it was Nicholas’ killer. It’s the same there. He is the only one who believes what he has seen and will slowly manage to convince them. And all this because of the frustration of not being able to do as he likes.

The intrigue around Maxime and Cecilia is coming to an end. Will there be any surprises in the result?

The first surprise in this story is the fact that Luna falls in love again so quickly. I also loved the relationship between Blanche and Luna, two friends with trust issues. Patrick on the other hand, he’s a bit of a hero because he’s the one who saves Luna.

It’s always nice to save a Mistralian who is very close to death. I also had a lot of fun shooting this story with Marie, who becomes my investigator for the first time. Where my character can’t investigate, I ask my wife before I put her in danger. It was a real pleasure to play this story.

Now that the investigation surrounding Cecilia and Maxime is over, what’s in store for Patrick in the coming weeks?

Patrick will not have time to fully recover from the knee problem, as he will already be involved in the new story. The Nebut and Boher families will be severely tested. He will be very busy anyway.

Since the release of Plus belle la vie, encore plus belle, the Babeth/Patrick pairing has been presented as the perfect couple. Will their relationship and character’s personal side develop further in the coming months?

I don’t know exactly what the authors have in mind. I really want that. Marie Reasch and I miss family intrigue because it is one of the glues of the Nebut family.

It is also one of the pillars of the relationship between the community and Plus belle la vie. We feel how loyal the fans of the series are to this couple, because it gives them the image of a united family that can go through incredible trials.

This is a blended family, so a very modern family. And then the Nebut family has a peculiarity: the older they get, the crazier they are (laugh). I know it makes people feel good. It brings them back to what they can experience.

This is one of the features of Plus belle la vie, even plus belle. It’s also about sometimes shedding light on what people are going through, along with the shift in fiction. It’s always fun to do these family intrigues.

Boher and Patrick are now colleagues and roommates. How is this cohabitation going? Will there be tension between them?

Hopefully there will be tension (laugh). When producer Clémentine Planchon told me that the Nebut and Bohr families were going to be reunited in one apartment, I jumped for joy.

First of all because I’m obviously very good friends with Stephen Hannon. We never stopped seeing each other during the year that the series was canceled. Moreover, we love to play together.

It’s fun to have two actors who know each other well. Authors can write anything, there is no problem and it will not affect the relationship between people. So authors can have fun. And I really wish they would give us a lot of tension and crisis and conflict, because that will definitely lead to scenes that people like.

Finally, do you have any projects you’d like to tell us about?

For now, my project is a more beautiful life, even more beautiful. I want to make sure that success lasts as long as possible. I am very happy in Plus belle la vie. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to do other things, but for now I’m happy where I am. My project is primarily to support my daughter, who is going to study film at the beginning of the school year.
