Bubba in his first series

Like 50 Cent, who became a successful series producer with his Power franchise, rapper Elie Yaffa aka Booba is launching into French fiction with a promising and muscular first series. He collaborated with Clément Godard, Clément Gournes and Vincent L’Anton to create, produce and supervise Cartwheel, a tense crime thriller that he described as an “urban western”.

In 2005, as the suburbs of Paris burn, Cart follows the two intertwined fortunes of Dries Jable (Adam Bessa), who is forced to take over the family drug business after his brother, Moussa (Salim Kechioshi), is busted in the business, and William. (Noham Eje), a young policeman trying to prove himself to his superiors.

Their meteoric rise in their diametrically opposed environment also brings them together for better and for worse. Set in a chaotic and dangerous context, Urika reveals that its first two episodes presented in the series Mania festival previews are very promising and well produced.

In addition to the three main actors, who have already proven themselves in other productions, the audience will discover Bubba’s first steps as an actor. The artist actually slipped into the skin of Metis, a character of great coldness who knows how to command respect wherever he goes to take his boat.

Between a muscular thriller and a family drama

Urika fits perfectly into the police thriller genre, adopting classic codes with complex investigations, unexpected alliances, outright betrayals and extremely violent confrontations. And that’s thanks to the expertise of co-creator Clement Godart, an ex-cop, and Marine Franco, the series’ director of collections, who particularly cut their teeth on excellent detective fiction gear.

In the first two episodes (of a total of seven seasons), we can already feel the steady pace, the characters in constant evolution (even if it is easy to guess without falling into too easy clichés, as evidenced by the amazing opening scene of the first episode) and the fascinating progress of the story until the finale, which we hope will be as explosive, As promised.

But Ourika is more than a police thriller, the series also leans towards family drama, Gomorrah-style, telling the story of the Jebel clan, from Paris to Morocco’s Ourika Valley, in an equally opulent setting. dangerous After the first two episodes, we obviously want to see more, and we’ll have to wait until March 28 to find out what happens next.

You can find the first two episodes for free on the platform Seriamania+ for another 24 hours. The Ourika series will be online from March 28 on Prime Video.
