Baz Luhrmann could exceed the box office thanks to his latest, Elvisbut in 2008 it didn’t do as well Australia was greeted with negative reviews and shrugs from the public. So now it will Snyder Cup road, reworking the epic drama in a limited series called away from the bottom.

In fact, a director’s cut of the film’s six episodes sees Luhrmann fetching cut footage, splitting the story into parts, changing the ending, and updating the soundtrack.

In case you skipped the original version, the story centers on the English aristocrat Lady Sarah Ashley (Nicole Kidman) who inherits Faraway Downs, a large cattle ranch in Australia following the death of her husband. When Australian cattle barons conspire to take over her land, she reluctantly teams up with a robust cattleman (Hugh Jackman) to protect her ranch. The story also involves young Nullah (Brandon Walters), a biracial indigenous Australian boy involved in the government’s draconian racial politics now known as “Stolen Generations”.

“Initially I wanted to adopt the concept of sweeping blown awayepic style and tear it down, “says Luhrmann.” A way to use epic novels and dramas to shed light on the roles of First Nations peoples and the painful scar of Australia’s ‘stolen generation’ history. The remake will premiere later this year on Hulu in the US and via Disney + in the UK.
