Another ’80s sitcom is getting revival treatment, like Who’s the Boss? is the latest show that is gearing up for a return two years after its initial announcement. Tony Danza is ready to return, as is Alyssa Milano for a sequel in development to the original series.
Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano will reprise their roles from the original Who’s the Boss? like Tony and Samantha Micelli. Term reported that in the next sequel, Samantha lives with Tony in the family home as a single mother. The revival, like the original, will examine the differences between generations of people, parenting, and provide insight into today’s modern family.
The series is in development for Amazon’s Freevee, with One day at a timeMike Royce is writing the series and serves as showrunner and executive producer. Brigitte Muñoz-Liebowitz also joins the series as an executive producer.
Who’s the Boss? it was successful on TV and ran for eight seasons on ABC (and some might say there are too many seasons ). Despite how naysayers may feel, the series has been honored throughout his tenure, with a dozen Emmy nominations. This is a pretty good reputation for a sequel series, even if the show only won one of those Emmys.
The sequel in development, assuming it makes it to the series, will join the ranks of other sequel revivals such as most complete housewho ended his career two years ago. Other revivals, such as The Connersthey’re still a hit on TV, so it’s fair to say audiences aren’t tired of seeing classic characters return to modern times.
Given the success of the original series and the involvement of big stars, it will be interesting to see how this show fares if it makes it to the series. Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano still have solid recognition in pop culture and I’m sure there are quite a few people who grew up watching Who’s the Boss? on television or in syndication which will give the new series a chance.
Who’s the Boss? It looks like Amazon’s Freevee, which rebranded itself as an ad-supported streaming service in April. The service is quickly gaining more original shows and could make its way into the streaming wars with an offer like this one. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see if it actually reaches the platform first, as the potential series is still in development.
followed by Who’s the Boss? is in development and it may take some time for audiences to see an episode. Fortunately, there isn’t new shows coming soon, which means a lot of distractions until more information about this exciting series is released.
