On a trip to Garnier’s opera, he crosses paths with Madame Loizot, a singing teacher at a respected institution, who discovers in Antoine a raw talent that needs to be developed. Despite his lack of lyrical culture, Antoine is fascinated by this form of expression and makes sure to follow Madame Loiseau’s teachings. Antoine has no choice but to deceive his family, friends and the whole town, for whom opera is a bourgeois affair, far from their world.
