Yellowstone: Kevin Costner finally agrees to return, but the case is not so simple!

What will be the end of Yellowstone? That’s the question left unanswered by the season 5 episode 1 finale. The end of the Western series, soon to be extended to 2024 (presumably) with Matthew McConaughey, was caused by Kevin Costner’s dispute with the creator of the series. Program, Taylor Sheridan.

In recent months, the two men have spoken only through the media or their respective lawyers. Financial and artistic disputes are said to be at the root of their feud, while other actors in the series have also started clashing with the production demanding higher salaries.

Kevin Costner wants to return to Yellowstone

Kevin Costner wanted to take a step away from Yellowstone to focus on Horizon: An American Saga, a mural of the West divided into four films that will mark his big return as a director. Now released from obligations, the latter would pave the way for a return to the series.

While our colleagues at Collider report that John Dutton’s interpreter would be willing to make a financial sacrifice, his return is not yet guaranteed. As soon as the shooting starts, all the scripts have already been completed. Therefore, Taylor Sheridan must decide whether or not the scripts can be rewritten for the character’s series finale.

While it seems clear that John Dutton would appear in Josh Lucas’ scenes, Kevin Costner’s return is therefore still uncertain. Will Taylor Sheridan, who already seems focused on the 2024 sequel, but also the spin-offs 1944 and 6666 (and other projects that aren’t official yet), be ready to bury the hatchet?

Either way, one thing is clear: between now and the end of the year it airs, the final season of Yellowstone promises to be the talk of the town! So let’s wait for the next twist in this media soap opera…
