TikTok will broadcast the motorsports championship live for the first time

For the first time in motorsport history, a championship will have all its races broadcast live on TikTok, the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), which will broadcast its 2024 season races on the social media platform, said on Wednesday.

The races will also be broadcast on free-to-air television in the UK on ITV.

The organizers have announced that the championship will be broadcast live and in full across the world on ITV Sport’s TikTok channel.

“This is a truly innovative move for the BTCC,” BTCC CEO Alan Dow said in a statement.

“I am incredibly proud to be the first major motorsports series in the world to have its entire racing season broadcast live on TikTok.”

“And, most importantly, this deal will introduce the BTCC to a completely different and new audience – a younger and more diverse audience – which is exactly what we, and indeed all of motorsport, are trying to do.”

TikTok, a company owned by China’s ByteDance, says it reaches more than one billion monthly active users worldwide, with 45% of them aged 18 to 34 and with women making up about 57% of all users .

The inaugural round of the BTCC will take place at Donington Park on 27 and 28 April. The championship will take place over 30 races over 10 weekends at circuits across the UK.
