Shrek (played by Mike Myers) is a lonely and extremely antisocial ogre who suddenly finds his life turned upside down. He is surprised by the fairy-tale creatures that were abandoned by Lord Farquaad (played by John Lithgow) and thrown into his swamp.
Determined to find peace, the ogre makes a pact with the prince of the kingdom to bring the creatures back to his world.
