In 2001, the romantic comedy “Bridget Jones” was released, and to everyone’s surprise, there will be a fourth part of this story.
‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’: Single mother in next installment? The details you can’t miss
The film follows the life of a thirty-year-old British woman who struggles to find a balance between her career, her love life and her constant battle with her weight. She decides to start the journal as a way to deal with her insecurities and challenges. Additionally, Bridget finds herself embroiled in a love triangle between her boss, the charming Daniel Cleaver, and her lifelong acquaintance, the seemingly boring Mark Darcy.
This story was an instant hit and in 2004 there was a second part, where Bridget apparently got her happy ending when she became engaged to Mark Darcy, however, 12 years later came Bridget Jones’s Baby, the third part where it is revealed that the Bridget is pregnant but doesn’t know if the baby is from her ex-partner Mark Darcy or Jack Qwant, a handsome American she meets at a festival.
Everyone thought that Bridget’s marriage to Mark and the birth of her son would be the final closure, but in 2024 it was announced that the fourth installment is on the horizon. According to the “Daily Mail” portal, the shooting of the film will begin next May in London.
A source working on the project stated that filming is already scheduled and pre-production is underway.
Hugh Grant will return as Daniel Cleaver to the plot in an unexpected twist
Some reports suggest that this new film will show Bridget Jones struggling to become a single mother after the tragic death of Mark Darcy and re-entering the dating scene.
One person who could cross her life again for the birth would be her ex-partner Daniel Cleaver, who was thought dead after a plane crash, but at the end of ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ it is discovered that he had been found. alive, news announced in a newspaper.
If this line is followed, a new chapter in Bridget’s life could be told. However, if Mark Darcy is alive in the plot, there is a risk that the stories of the first two films will be repeated, ie a love triangle, which could become repetitive.
As reported, Renée Zellweger would return as Bridget, as well as Hugh Grant, but it is unknown if Colin Firth, who played Mark Darcy, will take on the role, as will the other actors who have joined from the first part.
As for its release, no date has been mentioned yet, but knowing that pre-production is a fact, it could be another 2 or 3 years before the final film is released.
Do you think this fourth movie is a good or bad idea for the story? Tell us in the comments.
