“X-Men ’97”: the producer confirms the new seasons

The long wait seems to have been worth it. The return of X-Men ’97, which follows the conclusion of the fifth season of the cartoon, which aired in 1997, recently reached the 4 million view mark on Disney+. The success is such that the producer of the animated series has already confirmed that fans can expect at least two more seasons.

Statements by Brad Winderbaum, producer of X-Men ’97 were provided during an interview with ComicBook.com. He confirmed that the third season is already in development.

Also according to Winderbaum, the mutant animation will remain faithful to the original production, but will explore new narrative arcs. Just as the original series was based on the work of Chris Claremont, the revival will continue to use works from the 1970s through the early 1990s.

If the promise is confirmed, X-Men ’97 it will become the second Marvel Studios series to have three seasons. The first to achieve this feat was What if…?.

The producer, however, did not provide any possible release date for the continuation of the X-Men story. The information comes from CBR.
