After this long Easter weekend, Netflix’s top 10 was in motion. Come out of the romcom Irish Desire and the fantasy film The Lady and the Dragon with Millie Bobby Brown. The first two places are occupied by plays that make action the center of their plot.
We’re talking in particular about Soul Hunter, a South African film that comes with a fearsome salary. This spy thriller, loosely based on Deon Meyer’s novel (2002), tells the story of an ex-assassin who must return to work when one of his friends discovers a dangerous conspiracy at the heart of the South African government.
Running for 1 hour 45 minutes and restricted to under 16s on the platform, this new Netflix production seems to have seduced subscribers with its classic yet effective pace and catchy trailer. It should be remembered that the platform did not focus at all on this action film, which did not bring any benefit.
Once the effect of curiosity wears off, the hunter’s spirit should quickly return to the top. But if you’re looking for a movie or series to watch and it catches your eye, viewer reviews should be of interest.
What did Netflix subscribers think?
“An ordinary action film, although everything develops its own style, but so dirty! To the point where I couldn’t understand much about each other’s intentions. The action scenes are fortunately not too bad and quite entertaining. Despite a few unsuccessful scenes, such as the motorcycle helicopter fight.
My assessment: An imperfect and uneven little action movie, overall a good watchable one, but at the risk of not understanding everything.” (Lecturer H)
“It doesn’t live up to the trailer’s promise, it continues, so we watch it in fast motion.” (prabuin)
“A pretty spectacular South African action film. Believable actors and successful fight scenes. Although we can regret a few lengths, it’s all very nice to watch.” (rest and rest)

Our sincere opinion
Movies like The Hunter’s Soul come out every week. It’s not uncommon for a European or South African production to rise to the top without us having heard of it before.
All it takes is for Netflix to release it directly on the platform and for subscribers to start making it one of the most watched movies. A system that allows even minor releases to coexist with blockbusters.
Soul Hunter is far from a must-see movie in the Netflix catalog. It’s a spy thriller that lacks depth: with ridiculous villains and rather vague issues, it’s hard to get interested in the plot or the fate of the characters.
You only go there if you want a small dose of action, with fairly long and well-paced fights…
