Understand the ending of the film: No Air

According to the synopsis, the film tells the story of two sisters who decide to go diving in a remote place, and one of them ends up stuck on a rock unable to move. As a result, she will have to fight for her life, dealing with low oxygen levels and low temperatures.

After the tragic dive, May (Louisa Krause) becomes trapped under a giant rock, while Drew (Sophie Lowe) tries to remain stable amidst desperation. Initially the sisters think of a plan, in which Drew returns to the surface to seek help and bring additional oxygen to May, who must try to stay calm so as not to consume all the little air she has left.

However, the attempt doesn’t work at first, as Drew notices that May’s car keys and cell phone were glued together and tries to look for local help, but is unsuccessful and cannot travel far or communicate.

Back in the water, he finds May in poor condition, with hallucinations and an emotional crisis, which shows the viewer how troubled their relationship is.

Until May considers giving up, but Drew doesn’t let her give up, finding a way to get her sister out of the water, even though she too is weakened. To do this, Drew uses the tire pump of his BCD (Buoyancy Control Device) inflatable vest, lifting the rock that was in May and in this way he finally manages to free his sister, who can finally leave the place.

The difficulties, however, do not end here: the two sisters still need to decompress and recover the lost oxygen. At that moment, Drew faints and doesn’t seem to want to come back, but May manages to save her, so the two swim to the surface and embrace each other emotionally, after managing to save themselves.
