Blood For Romance Blood: How Bridgerton Inspired New Walking Dead Series!

After Dead City and Daryl Dixon, the third spin-off from The Walking Dead universe is coming to our screens. Titled The Ones Who Live, this event mini-series marks the big return of Rick Grimes, five years after his sudden departure from the horror series!

Two actors very involved in the design of the series

In this case, the former sheriff, played by Andrew Lincoln, reunites with his partner Michonne (Danai Gurira). The two actors are also credited as co-creators of the show, a sign that their involvement in designing the mini-series was not limited to just in front of the camera.

During an interview with the magazine peopleAndrew Lincoln called the program “The Most Romantic Walking Dead”. The English actor also revealed an unexpected source of inspiration for this new spin-off:

We watched Bridgerton a lot. It’s a long awaited story, I love this character and I think it’s a true love story. The very first episode of the series followed the story of a man who travels in search of his family.

A romantic series, but not for everyone!

Bridgerton is an adaptation of the novels Chronicles of Bridgerton Written by Julia Quinn. The series presents two aristocratic families in England at the end of the 19th century. Hunting enthusiasts and palace intrigue are at the heart of this Netflix-produced historical series.

Andrew Lincoln also credited Danai Gurira with insisting on enhancing the romance aspect of the story. But fans of The Walking Dead can rest assured: the spin-off The Ones Who Live still has its share of gory and gruesome scenes, and is therefore mostly aimed at an informed audience!
