James Cameron says he ‘didn’t know anything about guns’ when he made ‘The Terminator’

James Cameron spoke about one of his classics during a masterclass in Paris last Thursday, 4th. After a session of Terminator (1984), he recalled details about the production of the feature film.

The director had a lot of pre-production time, while waiting for the Arnold Schwarzenegger stay free, and little money. “I found out we didn’t have money for a designer, and I could draw, so why not?” she said. “I designed everything, and storyboarded the film very meticulously.”

The script for Terminator it was supported by a lot of action, which became a problem. “I didn’t know anything about guns,” he said. Cameron. “And then I thought: This is America, I can just buy them.”

“Ironically, my first film was the best prepared, which is why I probably had the opportunity to direct again, because we were reasonably on schedule — which has never happened to me since.”

The Canadian also returned to talking about the fetishization of weapons in some of his works, including Terminator: “I look back at some movies I’ve done and I don’t know if I would want to do this movie now. I don’t know if I would want to fetishize the gun, like I did in some of the movies in the past. exterminator more than 30 years ago, in our current world. What’s happening with guns in our society makes me sick to my stomach.”
