Godzilla and Kong: The New Empire It premiered just over a week ago and remains strong with its first place on the podium at the American box office. According to data from Box Office Mojo, the kaiju film did not suffer with the release of Primordial Fury and maintained its lead at the US box office in its second weekend in theaters.
Directed again by Adam Wingard, Godzilla and Kong: New Empire features the return of actors Brian Tyree Henry and Rebecca Hall. The new addition to the cast is the new protagonist, Dan Stevens, known for his roles in Legion, Downton Abbey AND The beauty and the Beast.
The film promises not only to unite the famous kaiju, the Japanese term for giant monsters, but also to explore the origins of the Titans and the mysteries of Skull Island. Watch the final trailer here!
The film is the continuation of Godzilla vs. Kong (2021). According to director Wingard, the inspiration for the relationship between the two titans was based on crime comedies of the 80s and 90s, such as Deadly machine, suggesting that the film might even have a humorous tone. Get it here!
