Everything about the second ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel (and it’s not ‘House of the Dragon’)

“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight,” the second “Game of Thrones” prequel in addition to “House of the Dragon,” is on the way, and here’s everything we know so far.

What is the second prequel of “Game of Thrones” about?

A century ago before the events narrated in ‘Game of Thrones’, there was Sir Duncan the Tall and his dog, Egg. This new series, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight”, will take us to a past full of knights, intrigue and legends.

The series is based on the series of novels written by George RR Martin called “Tales of Dunk and Egg”. These books, which include ‘The Hedge Knight’, ‘The Sworn Sword’ and ‘The Mystery Knight’, immerse us in a world 90 years before the events of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’.

‘The Hedge Knight’ adapts the first book in this series, titled ‘The Knight Errant’. Here, we follow the adventures of Dunk, a knight-errant, and Egg, a young Aegon Targaryen, as they travel through the Seven Kingdoms.

“A century before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… One young, naive but brave: The knight Sir Duncan the Tall and his younger master, Egg. Set in a time when ” The Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet faded from living memory, great destinies, powerful enemies and dangerous deeds await these unlikely and incomparable friends,” reads the official tagline.

Another important fact is that ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Knight Errant’ takes place about 100 years after the events of ‘The House of the Dragon’.

Production and Cast of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight”

The series is executive produced by George RR Martin, Ira Parker, Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis.

HBO has given a straight-to-series order, which means we’ll soon be able to dive into this fascinating world.

Peter Claffey, who we know from the series ‘Bad sisters’ and ‘Wrecked’, will be the protagonist, giving life to Dunk. while Egg will be played by Dexter Sol Ansell, who made his debut at the age of four in the series ‘Emmerdale’ and who was recently seen as Coriolanus Snow, as a young man, in the prequel to ‘The Hunger Games’: ” The ballad of songbirds and snakes.”

These two leading characters will become the next Lord Commander of the Royal Guard and the future king, respectively.

When will ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: Knight Errant’ be released?

Although no specific date has been announced yet, it is known that we will be able to see the series in 2025. Meanwhile, another ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel about Aegon’s conquests is in production (which has yet to be greenlit light) and the second season of “The House of the Dragon” is set to premiere on June 16, 2024.
