Indeed, originally, comedian Jason Statham was in talks to appear in Season 2 of the Netflix-produced show. Daredevil would become the first series in the filmography of a fighting actor who specialized in delivering all-out punches and forgoing most of the stunts.
However, in June 2015, when rumors of his presence in the series surfaced, Statham did not take kindly to Marvel’s action scenes:

In this context, it is understandable that the negotiations did not succeed. In the series’ defense, Daredevil included many fight scenes with real actors choreographed, sometimes even shot in sequence, which could tempt a stunt actor.
Perhaps Statham, who said in 2008 that he wanted to play Daredevil to give it a second lease on life after Ben Affleck’s failed 2003 film, was jealous that he wasn’t offered the lead role?
