The famous action movie actor was set to join Netflix’s Daredevil series. With the series coming to the Disney+ platform, take a look at this casting that could have changed everything for the series.
Indeed, originally, comedian Jason Statham was in talks to appear in Season 2 of the Netflix-produced show. Daredevil would become the first series in the filmography of a fighting actor who specialized in delivering all-out punches and forgoing most of the stunts.
However, in June 2015, when rumors of his presence in the series surfaced, Statham did not take kindly to Marvel’s action scenes:
“Anyone can do it. I mean, I could take my grandmother, put on a cape, put her in front of a green screen, and then bring in stunt people to do all the action. Anyone can do it. They rely on a stunt double, a green screen and a $200 million On a budget. It’s all computer generated.”

In this context, it is understandable that the negotiations did not succeed. In the series’ defense, Daredevil included many fight scenes with real actors choreographed, sometimes even shot in sequence, which could tempt a stunt actor.
Perhaps Statham, who said in 2008 that he wanted to play Daredevil to give it a second lease on life after Ben Affleck’s failed 2003 film, was jealous that he wasn’t offered the lead role?
In any case, leaked talks between the two parties have improved his potential casting, and the Transporter star has yet to sign on for any Marvel feature films or TV series.
He is set to join the second season to reprise his role as iconic supervillain Bullseye, played by Colin Farrell in 2003. Also known by the nickname “Tireur” in France, Bullseye is a very famous supervillain from the Daredevil comics who can deliver a killing blow. which will follow.
Bullseye will eventually be played by Wilson Bethel, after appearing in the TV series All Rise.
